Bowie Space Creatures and other cool stuff.

Bowie was the coolest rock star of the 1970's. I love the Ramones don't get me wrong but they really only put out three great albums. Bowie put out more then I can count in my head. Almost everything he did from The Man Who Sold the World to Scary Mosters was absolutely wonderful.

It is hard for me to pick my favorite Bowie song. For awhile it was Heroes. For a while it was Panic in Detroit. Now for some reason it is Moonage Daydream.

I once read a review in Rolling Stone of some new band that was writing about outerspace like Bowie did and the reviewer said something like "Nobody should write about outerspace and space creatures unless they are David Bowie."

Bowie has a lot of great space related songs. Life on Mars, Moonage Daydream,Ziggy Stardust, Space Oddity and Ashes to Ashes all come to mind.

He created this alter ego that was Ziggy Stardust, an androgonis rocker.I remember my sister had a friend who dressed like Bowie back in the day when I was only 5 or 6 years old. There were other so called glam rockers like T-Rex but Bowie really transended them all and when it got old he knew to move on to something else.

I used to like the albums that were produced by Eno the best but now I am more partial to Ziggy Stardust and Adalin Sane. These albums are definately a must have for any serious rock collection. Also check out The Best of Bowie DVD which has videos he made (way before MTV) and live performances on various British television shows. I remember the announcer saying "David Bowie showed up looking glamorous. Then went to the bathroom and came out looking all the more glamorous. David Bowie," He said and then Bowie went straight into Young Americans another one of the best songs ever written.

It was a very different time, and Bowie was more "different" than most. Have you seen the movie, "The Man Who Fell To Earth?" It's unmistakeably one of the best "long-form" music videos. I also like Ziggy and A Lad Insane. I think we have a lot in common, I LOVE horror movies, making art, and mental health issues.
